NASA Harvest in collaboration with UMD Geographical Sciences conducts several training programs for agricultural monitoring.

NASA Harvest and the Buenos Aires Grain Exchange (Bolsa de Cereales) have jointly implemented an educational program for high school scholars in the Buenos Aires province. The program focuses on the importance of sustainability in agriculture and the role of remotely sensed satellite data in agricultural monitoring. Dr. Inbal Becker-Reshef and Estefania Puricelli are leading this educational program.

The program covers topics on the agro-industrial sector and the role of Argentina in international markets and satellite data applications for the characterization of agricultural production in Argentina. Students get the opportunity to work with satellite imagery and are introduced to remote sensing, big data and artificial intelligence.

Building on their established partnership with the Buenos Aires Grain Exchange (Bolsa de Cereales), the Argentinian Ministry of Education, and the International Development Bank, NASA Harvest has also launched a training program within Argentina to teach agricultural professionals tools and techniques for improved agricultural monitoring. GEO Center's Ritvik Sahajpal and Michael Humber are some of the instructors involved in the program. The program will teach participants the fundamentals of remote sensing; discuss the variety of satellite imagery, or Earth Observation (EO) data, available; and demonstrate the various kinds of analysis. Estefania Puricelli is coordinating the program.
